How to Build an OnCallable Pro Profile That Wins More Work

Before a customer books you, they will likely check your profile.

They are about to let someone into their home, so they want to see who is coming. What they find on that one screen does a lot of the deciding for them.

What a customer sees when they open your profile

Your profile shows your photo and name, the services you offer, your rating and the number of jobs you have completed, where you are based, and how long you have been on OnCallable. If you have written an About section, that shows too.

A profile with a blank circle where a photo should be and nothing in the About section gives a customer very little to go on. The same profile with a photo, a few honest lines and your services listed answers most of what they wanted to know before they book.

What a finished profile looks like

• A clear photo of you. Your face, decent light, no sunglasses. A logo or a photo of your truck does not tell a customer who is turning up. A phone photo taken outside is perfect.
• A short bio. Two or three lines. What you do, how long you have been doing it, and what you take pride in. Write it the way you would say it to a customer at the door.
• Your services and area. List the work you actually want, so the jobs that reach you are worth your time.
• Photos of your work. Before and afters are the strongest thing you can add. A cleared driveway, a patched wall, a tidy garden bed. Phone photos are fine.
• Languages you speak. If you speak more than English, add it. For plenty of customers, that matters.

The whole thing takes about five minutes, and you only do it once.

What makes a good Pro profile photo?

A clear photo of your face in good light, taken straight on. Outdoors or near a window works well. Skip sunglasses, hats that shade your face, group photos and logos. A customer is checking who is coming to their home, so they are looking for a face.

What should a Pro write in their bio?

Two or three plain sentences: what you do, how long you have been doing it, and something that tells a customer what working with you is like. Sales language is not needed. "Fifteen years of handy work, mostly repairs and seasonal yard maintenance. I show up when I say I will." does more than a paragraph of adjectives.

Do customers really check a Pro's profile before booking?

Your profile is the main thing a customer has to go on before they decide. Every Pro on OnCallable completes identity verification, so the basics are covered either way, but verification tells a customer you are who you say you are. Your photo, your bio and your work photos tell them what you are like to hire.
